Win tickets to see Adam Cohen perform in Toronto

My name is Leesa and I am a frustrated musician. Truthfully I am not a musician at all, which is why I'm so frustrated. But that sad fact has also made me an intense music fan. As you music fans know, the best way to experience a musical artist is through their live show. It's intimate. They are in their element. It's a fleeting moment, made just for you.

Adam Cohen and his band make the most of a live show. For all of Adam's past success in music, he hit his stride with his latest album Like a Man. As the son of Leonard Cohen, his music doesn't shy away from the sound - or the subject matter - of his roots. However, Like a Man is all Adam. It's a dreamy, romantic, tantalizing essay on the women he has known and loved. If seeing the likes of a Lana Del Ray or Bon Iver perform is up your alley, you're going to love Adam Cohen. Ladies, prepare to swoon. Men, prepare to be a bit jealous.

Giveaway: Slim Down for Summer with Dr. Pierre Dukan

Damn the French. First it was some gorgeous Frenchwoman gloating how she can down cheese, baguettes and bubbly and still be a skinny bitch; now it's a French doctor ready to solve anyone's weight problem in four easy steps.

We would really hate them if it weren't true, right?

Well, don't get angry yet. Turns out Dr. Pierre Dukan is on to something. He has spent the last 10 years perfecting this weight loss approach overseas with real people after years of working as a neurologist and family doctor.

The four-phase plan relies on protein-rich foods in the first week to stimulate weight loss, and introduces vegetables and other food items in the following weeks. (If I may interject, Doctor, this non-expert, non-French, skinny bitch advises readers to also include more basic exercise like walking and taking the stairs.)

Kate Middleton lost two dress sizes on The Dukan Diet prior to becoming the Duchess of Cambridge. Really, what else is there to know?! Get to your slim self just in time for summer.

I've got five Dukan Diet books to give away this weekend. But first I want to know, in a world without calories, what are you eating? (Once again, there's no wrong answer.) Send an email to info@f-list.ca or tweet @theFlist with your answer by midnight on Friday, June 17th.

Thanks in advance for making me hungry with your answers. Enjoy!

Reader Survey: What's Normal?

Last week I asked readers "What is normal?" and you answered in droves. I expected as much, since it was a chance to win an autographed copy of Kelly Cutrone's latest book Normal Gets You Nowhere. It was such fun reading the responses, I had to share. Here are a few choice favorites:

What is normal?

Thinking, "I don't give a damn!" and leaving the house with a ton of self-confidence.
~ Domenica

Normal is forgettable. Normal is following the status quo. Normal is being complacent in life, never questioning anything. Normal is what's expected of you. I refuse to be "normal".

~ Stephanie

'Normal' is what makes your mother happy.
~ Anna

Normal is a word that's made up to classify the boring, mundane things in life and the box that you trap yourself in when you only go as far as what people expect of you.
~ Christine

Normal is a whole lot of crazy and a little bit of dull added together and divided in half!
~ Hanah

Normal is what everyone else is doing to fit in!
~ Jessica

Normal is benign, boring and unremarkable.
~ Barbara

Normal is trying to think of  a clever answer to a question, and can't think of a darn thing!!

~ Dyane

Normal is being insecure about our differences, but once embraced, they become are biggest assets.
~ Michelle

Nothing.
~ Maggie

Normal is vanilla. It is beige on beige, but not in a magnificent suede or textured
leather. It is never flirting with a coworker, or making a sarcastic joke. It is plain, passable, and unprepossessing.
~ Ariella

Good sex!
~ Abbe

Normal is being just like everybody else only different.
~ Janet

There's no such thing is normal! Normal is conforming to who you think you should be instead of who you are.
~ Fiona

Accepting mediocrity in fear of being different from the majority.
~ Rachal

Believing there is no such thing.
~ Jacklyn

Normal is nothing. It is a figment of our imaginations... an idea we've created.  Our own judgement of what we think others expect of us.
~ Wendy

Whatever the hell I want it to be!
~ Jaime-Anne
