This new recurring feature, Faces of Fashion, will highlight those working in fashion including designers, models, stylists and photographers. In this issue meet Elmer Olsen model Sarah Barnes.
Sarah Barnes knows what she wants in modeling and how to get it. This straight 'A' high school student from Milton, Ontario has an unusual drive and ambition. With Sarah, you get the sense she really wants this as a career, and is prepared to do what it takes to reach her goals. At 5 feet, 10-and-a-half inches tall, Sarah is aiming to be in American Vogue magazine and will stop at nothing short of that. "That's my ultimate goal," she says. "I hope to continue to travel internationally as well."
She recently returned from Milan and London, where she met with people from Dsquared2 and Armani. "I enjoyed the experience of meeting these iconic fashion influences and look forward to hopefully working with them in the future,” she says.
Other goals are to walk for a major designer in a major city, something her representatives at Elmer Olsen Models say is very attainable. In terms of spring fashion trends, there are a few things that catch her eye. “I really like the various patterns and vibrant colours on dresses by Marc Jacobs, and the chic classic looks by Ralph Lauren, with the many western inspired pieces,” she says.
In Canada aspiring models don’t need to look far for inspiration, but Sarah’s source is Daria Werbowy. “Even though she is unbelievably successful, she has managed to remain grounded.”
